How To Leave Your Marc...

My friend Brian let me borrow this Marcumentary last year. I wasn't expecting it to be so personal. I spent the whole day watching it over and over. I think this is a must see for anyone interested in design or art. Love or hate Marc Jacobs, you definitely learn to appreciate the hard work and love poured into every piece created. From handbags to shoes, this film shows the creative process and constant re dos it takes to have a final, highly sought-after product. The sleepless nights fueled by coffee, cigarettes, and energy bars are most definitely worth it. Watch it.

butter-FLY Finds

A few months ago, there was a dress at Betsey Johnson
that I completely fell in love with. It was a large retro
butterfly wing print. There was also a matching coat. The
idea of wearing the same print on print reminded me of a
glass stained print Givenchy dress I saw at a museum in Dallas.

Anyways, the theme of today's post is butterflies:

Color Block Trends

Remember those little color blocks called Lego's? You know the toys we used to play with as kids.
Color Block will be huge in Spring. Marc Jacobs took color blocking a little too literal. Check out these Lego accessories for spring 2008:

Lego Head band

Lego Belt Buckles

Military uniforms inspiration?

It seems Marc Jacobs is not the only person being inspired by Lego's. I mean I used to make all sorts of things out of Lego's but never anything like this.

LEGO art by Nathan Sawaya

Nathan Sawaya makes a life out of Lego Art. Check out http://www.brickartist.com/ for more pieces.

Here are some more not so literal forms of color blocking.

This makes me want to make Lego jewelry/art.
