A Christmas Story

my mama

I have three older brothers and a younger sister

Oldest brother and his wifey.

A bug and my daddy

Johnny got drunk on egg nog.

My brother Chris and his girlfriend acting like bugs.

Here are a few things I received:

This is Opium by Yves Saint Laurent. The fragrance was originally released in 1977. It is a spicy oriental scent: mandarine, vanilla, carnation and jasmine. The bottle on the left my brother and his wife gave me... Bottle on the right was my grandmothers.

Controversial Ad with Sophie Dahl by Steven Meisel (2000)

I fell in love with Green tea by Elizabeth Arden when I was a sophmore in highschool. It has basically become a tradition for me to get a bottle every year. There are about two bottles missing. This is my day scent.

Little Missy Pajama pants!

Best Chrismas ever.
Hope everyone had a lovely holiday. More pictures tomorrow!

Swoon Of The Day

Perfect is the only word that comes to mind.
I love how he brightened a gloomy, rainy day.

Picture from The Sartorialist.

Kenneth Jay Lane On A Budget

Kenneth Jay Lane Crystal Snake Bracelet $190.00
18k electroplated gold with crystal detail.

Kenneth Jay Lane Tiger Bracelet $88.00

I have been drooling over Kenneth Jay Lane jewelry for the longest. I own ridiculous amounts of jewelry so I could never justify paying that much for one. So I was pretty excited to find these cheaper versions at Urban Outfitters.

Snake Hinge Bracelet $24.00

Tiger Enamel Hinge $28.00

I also found vintage KJL was cheaper than the modern pieces... some are even more fabulous.

Welcome to Prada, Texas

You might be wondering why there is an isolated Prada boutique in Valentine, Texas.
This is actually an art project installation named Prada Marfa, which never "opened" on October 1, 2005.

Artists Elmgreen & Dragset state,
"The work will be located on the outskirts of Valentine, Texas near Marfa on desolate ranching land with no other visible trace of civilization. As one drives toward the artwork it will appear to be a large minimalist sculpture, as one gets closer it will look like a luxury boutique where a display of Fall 2005 high-heel Prada shoes and bags will be seen through the store front windows... [It]blends into the exciting historical structures of the area in which it will be placed... As we purposefully will not preserve Prada Marfa, it will eventually become a ruin so that even in a future decayed state it will remain relevant to the time in which it was made..."

I guess my only thought is how I want to be there when it
has decayed enough for me to have all those shoes and bags!

Also, rumor has it that influential menswear designer Hedi Slimane
(ex-Dior Homme) is talking to LVMH about launching his own fashion house.

Word of the Day:
Collaboration
col·lab·o·rate intr.v. col·lab·o·rat·ed, col·lab·o·rat·ing, col·lab·o·rates
To work together, especially in a joint intellectual effort.
To cooperate treasonably, as with an enemy occupation force in one's country.

also, check this out, it is cheezy fun.

The Hyena Men

Pieter Hugo created The Hyena Men series while traveling in Nigeria with a troupe of animal charmers and their collection of tenuously domesticated hyenas, monkeys and snakes. The portraits feature groupings of men and animals surrounded by the barren urban centers of northern Nigeria. Taken during quiet moments between the spectacles of street performances, the photographs depict a stillness that subverts the tense physicality of the animals and their trainers.

I thought these were so nice. I fantasize of a Nicolas Ghesquière collection inspired by these pictures.

The Hyena and Other Men is on display now through
January 12, 2008 at the Yosi Milo Gallery.
