Vent #1

My priority above everything is finishing this collection.
I don't want anything that represents me to... suck real bad. I
have high standards for everything I create.

The craziest part of everything is I made my first dress ever in December.
I mean I have been in the Fashion Design program since Spring 2006. My
passion has been styling and until December was everything I wanted. I really
like making things and choosing fabrics... I have spent more money on fabrics,
threads, trims, inks, and paper and NY then I have on clothes or shoes. :(

Our school has been really not cool to the collections class. First off, We have
to find our own models. We also have to find our own hair and make up people.
They also sold all the front row tickets before any students in the fashion department
even had a chance to buy any for our families. My parents have been the biggest support
system I have and it sucks that they cant get dibs on that. BOO!

I am pretty proud of the things I have made considering my experience. I love the
theme and I am hugely influenced by my surroundings, colors, and crazy awesome
sick patterns. I love the unexpected mixed with the expected to create something
you never expected to love.

This blog has really helped me archive all the things I want and can't
have. If I can't have them, someone else should, right??
But it goes beyond my materialistic side, it has helped me stay
inspired and continue doing and reading and researching the things I love.
Thank you to everyone who continues to visit this blog every day even
when I have not posted. :)

These are crazy good. I love the contrast and abstract randomness
going on. I would have so much fun dressing these up. There is a fine
line between tacky and... not tacky. Therefore, keep your pieces modern
and elegant to avoid looking a hot mess.

Sorry for lack of updates but I have been way
too busy stabbing myself with pins and making
things I never knew I could make.
I will update with more things soon.

I love going into my internship since I get to see
all these lookbooks for Spring/Fall 2008, and
trend magazines.
There are so many things I want to blog about but
I seriously need to stay focused on this whole graduating thing.

I am getting anxious.. there is less than a month for
my collections to be presented. I graduate mid May...
and I turn 23 May 31.
I want to move to NY but I need to go on a job hunt.
It is obviously impossible to find a job or room MONTHS
before a move.... Excitement, determination and hope is all
I can feel. I will ALSO be looking for a job mid May... Anything
to bring in the cash flow to reach my goals.

Late To Class

I read an article on John Galliano in the new Harper's Bazaar yesterday.
I saw this quote and it sounded so magical and ... I basically want to get
drunk and dance with an African tribe too. Inspiring stuff.

Target First Saturday presents Japanimated!
Arts and Cultures of Japan feat. DJ Muro



Cosplay has gone mainstream, judging by this week's Target First Saturday. To kick off the Takashi Murakami exhibit, the Brooklyn Museum is throwing a Japanese-themed party complete with taiko drumming, screenings of two anime classics and a documentary about an ex-geisha, and a gallery talk about the museum's collection of Utagawa prints. The party gets louder later in the evening with performances by two local bands of Japanese origin, and a hip-hop, funk, and soul set by Japan's DJ Muro. The kicker, though, is the costume contest — come dressed as your favorite anime or manga character for a chance to win a copy of the © MURAKAMI catalogue.

Watch it!

I remember back when EVERYONE used a watch to tell time... Now it seems Blackberrys and Iphones have been reassigned the duty.

While doing a little "screen shopping," these watches stood out to me and helped me remember a time when we weren't so dependent on text messages and hand held computers.
